Why Being Shy Isn’t As Harmless As You Might Think

Apr 08, 2021

Ten years pass by, and you're 25 or 30, and next thing you know, you have so much internal social pressure to perform and struggle with just being yourself in front of others.

Or maybe you can't go to that event or friendly gathering without drinking a few drinks to take the edge off and loosen up.

And then, later at night, your mind replays all the social interactions you had and repeatedly tells you you’re not your authentic self.

This is the reality for most people who grew up, and we're called the innocently “shy” or quiet kid.

Now, there's nothing wrong with being shy every once in a while. It's a normal feeling we all sometimes have.

Everyone gets shy asking that girl to prom or going to a new meeting for the first time.

However, there are people in which around 75% of the situations they're in, feel this sense of shyness, this sense of impending doom that someone will judge or mock them.

Feeling like others might judge you is apart of being a human.

But, if that’s your brain’s operating system on a regular basis, you will stop yourself from doing what you want to do in life and unnecessarily suffer.

On Average It Takes 10 Years to Realize

According to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America, it takes up to 10 years for someone with social anxiety to finally ask for help.

I'm no different. I “waited” for ten years because I didn't have a choice.

I thought I was a shy kid, but the truth was I had social anxiety and had no idea. My mind placed me in a prison inside of my head, reinforced by the unconscious concept and belief that I had something wrong with me.

Today, I see kids to adults conflicted and impacted by this issue because we live in a world where people tell them to “just be more confident” or “speak up,” which doesn't work for social anxiety.

More often than not, the onset of social anxiety begins around age 9-11, society calls them shy introverts, and then they live within the label and create the personality of being shy....

When in reality you are probably not shy.

When in reality you are probably not shy.

You are probably confident deep down but have never learned how to unlock and use it sustainably.

I spend my life today helping people who struggle with this same issue I once faced. I published a book on Amazon and audiobook on audible called Screw Being Shy, all about learning how to manage social anxiety for yourself.

Can I help?

Over the last several years I’ve devoted my life to helping introverted, shy, socially anxious creators, entrepreneurs, CEO’s, and professionals move these mental obstacles out of their life so they can get busy being their real selves in front of anyone.
